5 Second Rule Do You Follow It? (Giveaway)
Do you follow the 5 second rule? You know the one where you still eat food if it has been on the floor less than 5 seconds. I do at least at my house that is, but there are definitely some exceptions. For example we do not reuse spilled liquid that is just gross, nor do we eat food that sticks to the floor. There are a select group of food items that I quickly scoop up and hand right back to my kids. Let’s face it when they are simply devastated over a spilled bowl of pretzels we quickly scoop them up, refill the bowl and let them go back to snacking. Or if a sippy cup falls to the floor I hand it right back. I know when my floor is clean or not and so I am pretty comfortable handing back the snack or cup, it builds up the immune system right? Public spills are a great big NO WAY when it comes to the 5 second rule instead I use the dropped it’s gone rule. Sadly my idea as to the appropriateness of the 5 second rule was shattered the other day when I learned Clorox and San Diego university conducted a study that proves the 5 second rule to be a myth. But on the upside I got to chat with Samantha Bee of the Daily Show a funny and witty mom who herself used to abide by the 5 second rule. She recommended a great new site called Simple & Surprising where Clorox helps you to be 5 second rule ready. When it comes to keeping your items clean and sanitized bleach is your best friend and Clorox has all the tips and tricks for you on just how to use it. If you are like me bleach scares you a bit but after reading just how to dilute it appropriately to disinfect I feel armed with the necessary knowledge to keep clinging to my 5 second rule (only at home of course)!
Guess what? Clorox wants to give one lucky Thrifty & Chic Mom reader a Clorox Surprise Pack valued at $20. To enter tell me your thoughts on the 5 second rule or a funny story involving the 5 second rule. For extra entries do any or all of the following leaving a separate comment for each entry.

Nope – I don’t believe in the 5-second rule. If it falls on the floor, it goes in the garbage.

I would only consider using the 5 second rule if my floor is spotlessly clean — and it usually isn’t
*Thanks* for the giveaway!

I remember my husband dropping some chips on the kitchen floor, and theyw re the last he had – so he wasn’t going to let them go to waste! I told him he has the five second rule, and whatever was left would go in the trash… well ten (or more) seconds later he gets them up and says that he made a new rule up -HE could go to ten seconds, he was a boy and boys are made of dirt. Sure, ok. Lord, please don’t let us have a boy when we try for a baby – it’ll be hard to convince him not to eat off the floor. lol.
