I think it is instinctual for moms to worry about their kids, we worry if they eat enough, sleep enough, know enough and are safe enough. It’s just what we do mom’s worry. From the moment my oldest daughter was born I became much more conscious of things going on around me. I knew I had to have a video baby monitor with her so I could keep an eye on her at all times (that’s right I am one of those moms) and yes when she was sleeping I would frequently stare at the monitor trying to see if her little stomach was moving up and down to make sure she was still alive.
In our last home we had a security system but rarely used it, we felt safe and only felt the need to turn it on when we went out of town. Then we had a child predator move into the house behind us and I was not only glad we had a home security system but wished we had a video surveillance system. Needless to say we moved right away and not just because I am an overly protective mom I think most any mom would do the same if she could. Luckily we moved into an area that is very safe with no predators close by (we made sure) so I no longer need video cameras to keep an eye on my kids and house.
If you are looking for ways to improve the security of your home you should check out the Home Security Store. Even if you are not concerned about security but rather safety they also offer medical alerts which are perfect for elderly parents still living in their own home or even survival kits. Hopefully you will never have a need to be protected but it doesn’t hurt to be prepared.
