Easy Strawberry-Lime Jam Recipe #YesIJam (Canning Prize Pack Giveaway ends 7/8)

Canning has long been on my to-do list yet I have never been able to cross it off my list until now! Thanks to Kraft SURE-JELL I finally did it I not only made my own delicious homemade jam, strawberry-lime yum, but I canned some to save for later and it was much easier than I thought. I used the traditional water-bath canning method and some tips I learned from SURE-JELL and Kraft foods and it all went smoothly. If you are a first time canner there are some important things to remember, always leave the recommended head space and always boil for the amount of time recommended as it is a safety issue you must kill all the bacteria. If you can follow directions you can easily can, I promise.

I LOVE strawberry jam and so that is what I decided to make, while I would have loved to pick my own strawberries, it just has not worked out this year so instead I picked some up form the store on sale to try my hand at jam. I found a delicious sounding recipe for strawberry-lime jam on the Kraft Foods site and decided to try it out.

Strawberry-Lime Jam

SURE-JELL Strawberry Lime Jam

  • 5 cups stemmed and crushed strawberries
  • 1 box SURE-JELL fruit pectin
  • 7 cups sugar
  • 1/4 cup lime juice
  • 2 tsp grated lime peel
  • 8 1 cup jars

Using an 8 quart saucepan add the prepared strawberries, lime juice, SURE-JELL fruit pectin and lime peel. Bring fruit mixture to a full rolling boil stirring constantly. Add in sugar and keep stirring constantly while boiling for 1 minute. Remove from heat and skim off any foam.

Ladle into prepared jars leaving 1/8 inch space at the top, wipe jar clean and screw lids on tightly. Add to water bath in an elevated rack and cover with 2 inches of water. Bring water to a gentle boil and process for 10 minutes. Remove from water and cool completely in an upright position. Check seals once cooled and if sealed store until you are ready to enjoy!
