I have 4 girls and that means lots and lots of dress up clothes. Recently during my 31 Days of Organization Challenge it was brought to my attention by Andrea of Momma in Flip Flops 2 that she was struggling with how to organize her daughters dress up clothes. I have a system that works really well for us but I wanted to brainstorm on some cheap and easy ways to organize your child’s dress up clothes. So here you go
3 Easy Ways to Organize kids Dress Up Clothes

Use a Trunk or Bench: My girls have all of the dress up clothes we own in this adorable fairy themed bench the Levels Of Discovery Fairy Wishes Bench Seat with Storage. I love using this for several reasons. First of all it gives me a limit, when the top can no longer close it is time to sort and get rid of some. Second of all it serves double duty as seating and decor in my daughters room. And finally I love when storage looks good, I would want this adorable bench in my daughters room even if it did not serve as storage, but it does so that is a bonus!

Use Wall Hooks: This example is a cheap over the door hanger I got at Target for $2, I love how many hooks it has and it helps to eliminate too any options and clutter plus it is easy for your child to put the items away. You could easily mount a hook like this lower on the door or wall so you child can reach.

Use A Hanging Sweater Organizer: Since each of my girls share a room with a sister our closets are pretty packed, but if you have room in the closet use hanging sweater organizer like this one the Household Essentials Six-Shelf Canvas Sweater Organizer. You can allocate one dress per section making it easy for you child to access without having to dig through all the clothes and easy to put away. You could even do this for the dress up shoes and accessories in a second one or in addition to the wall hooks for dresses.
This organization idea is part of my 31 Days of Organization Challenge. Join in the fun and get organized for 2013!

I love the bench! We use a combination of hooks on a wall to double as decoration (my son has a Marvel bedroom) and a pirate’s chest box. But I have to admit we are running out of room and either need some more hooks or store some away! Love that over the door hanger!
My girls wear them so much ours need thrown out usually right about when we get to many so for us the bench has been enough so far.
We have one of those toy box storage deals and love it!
They are awesome for storage.
Great ideas! We are actually setting up a dress up are for Lucas’ costumes in his new room soon. We bought a big chest and Mike’s going to build a clothes/hat rack too.
