How to Make A Household Schedule

household schedule

My life runs better when it is more organized. Sure I love to think I am free and easy and go with the flow but the truth is I forget things and then I end up running around like a chicken with my head cut off. A few years ago I had a cleaning schedule for my house and it was fantastic then we moved, I had more kids and it got forgotten. Today I sat down and made a Household Schedule. If you are looking for a really in depth guide to making one I highly recommend A Mother’s Rule of Life: How to Bring Order to Your Home and Peace to Your Soul it is a great book and one I referenced today to remind me of what I was doing. Another great resource and this one has lots of free printables is Life Your Way.  I used a combination of the above and made a very simple and useful Household Schedule I know it will grow and get more specific but for now it is perfect. Here is a walk through of my new Household Schedule.

I also printed out some chore charts for my older 2 girls. I used the free template I found at Crafting Chicks and altered it in PicMonkey. I just printed mine out on paper and plan on laminating it so we can use dry erase makers to check off the boxes each week.

I think the most important thing about making a Household Schedule is being sure it works for your family. I have seen prettier and more complicated schedules that I am in awe of I know I would never follow. For me simpler is better and that is what I will stick with.

If you have a Household Schedule I would love to hear about it or share a link!

  1. I love this!! I definitely need a household schedule. There are some things I do on the same day every week, but nothing concrete.

Rather than laminating, you could buy frames at the Dollar Store and hang them for easy access?

  2. This is such a great idea! I am great with household stuff, but blogging stuff forget it. I need my blogging work organized!

  3. Such a great idea Ellen!
