I am a young and relatively healthy woman, I eat fine not amazing but not really bad and I am quite active… or so I thought! At the beginning of this year I signed up to try out a FitBit Zip and honestly I was doing it more for my readers than for me. I was sure I was active enough but I thought it would be a great product to introduce you all to. The FitBit Zip arrived in sleek packaging in a fun green color and I was excited to start using it. Setup was easy and I even synced it with my phone using the app (available for both Android and iPhone). I then slipped my FitBit Zip on and went about my day. I put it on around 10 am and I remember thinking I will get my 10,000 steps EASY even though the day was already begun.Well that night I ended my day with 8842 steps and I felt justified after all I had started the day late so clearly I was as active as I thought.
The next day I ended my day with a mere 5277 steps, clearly an off day! The next day 7233, the day after that 9515 and the next was 3810! Are we seeing the pattern yet? Not one day did I make it to 10,000 steps clearly I was delusional when it came to my activity level. Thanks to my tiny green friend the Fitbit Zip I was now unable to deny the fact that my daily activity level just wasn’t enough and I needed to start doing some actual working out with purpose and intention!
The FitBit Zip has led to some major lifestyle changes, it spurred my starting the 30 Day Shred and asking others to join me. I find myself trying to reach my goal of 10,000 steps by adding a few more in when in the past I would have stood still or sat down. Th FitBit Zip also tracks calories burned and distance all wirelessly and that has made me think twice about those extra snacks and treat that are high in calories knowing how many more steps I would need to add to my day. The FitBit Zip is tiny enough and light enough that I was never bothered by it and it didn’t even ruin any outfits by bulging under my clothes.

When I told people I was trying out the FitBit Zip many told me they could not wait to hear my thoughts as they had been debating getting one. Well here are my thoughts GO GET A FITBIT ZIP RIGHT NOW. As Jillian Michaels says “we are creating a false sense of lethargy, just taking the stairs is not cutting it”. I think most people would be shocked at how little they really move in a day and the FitBit Zip can help you easily get a more active lifestyle going. Plus the FitBit website can track your weight loss and health journey farther giving you a food journal, sleep journal, weight tracker and goal setter. The FitBit Zip is available for $59.95 and comes in 5 fun colors, so go get one now and make 2013 the year you take control of your health!

How neat! I’d love to have this and track the steps I take! I think I’d be like you and finding myself trying to do even more!
Janet, I was truly shocked how little I moved some days, reality hurts sometimes
That does sounds interesting. I am trying to find a little gadget to help me keep track of my running progress.
Not sure this would work for that but it was definitely good for getting my lazy rear moving more
You may want to check into the Flex coming this Spring it tracks active minutes which is a a new addition plus other things http://www.fitbit.com/flex and it is a wristband looks interesting
Oooh… heading over!
Oooh …. fancy! LOL!
I have the FitBit Ultra. We need to be friends bc I need some motivation!
Oh yes we do!
I just got the FitBit Zip (but mine is black – I like your green one!) and I am having a hard time changing over from my Omron.
Getting 10k steps is SO much harder than people think! (I have a tiny house, but I think I would benefit from having a 4000 sqft house just to get in my 10K steps every day!
)
So true a 4000 sq foot house would demand more steps just visiting ever room would get you half way there
I having been thinking about getting one but I want to wait until the Flex came out this spring.
The Flex looks very cool it measures active minutes which is neat
