Colorblocking Made Easy #FashionTrend

colorblock lee shorts

Colorblocking is still very popular and it is an easier trend to pull off than you may think, simply pair two solid pieces together to create our own colorblocking effect and voila you have it You can find shirts and dresses and even jackets that are colorblocked on the piece themselves but your closet is full of DIY color block options, you just need to find the right pairing.

lee blue shorts

I recently received a pair of light blue Lee Platinum Label No Gap Ventura Bermuda to style and they inspired some colorblocking fashion fun. I initially wore them with a floral blue and white top and it was very cute but I wanted something with a bit more pop that would transition into fall. I decided to add a coral cardigan with 3/4 sleeves and matching coral wedge heel sandals. I love the two bold colors together creating a colorblock effect that really catches the eye. Normally I would have a white tank sticking out in between to break it up but I really like the stark contrast without the white in between.

As you can see colorblocking is really that easy, so will you be doing some DIY colorblocking? Now that I created this outfit I have many more to try as we head into fall.

What I Wore Real Mom Style: This Is Not Your Grandmas Floral Cardigan #RealMomStyle

floral cardigan oxford shoes

I am not a flowery person when it comes to my clothes, as I am sure you have noticed, so when I decided to give this floral cardigan a try I asked Andrea if it looked too grandma-ish. Yes those were my exact words as I debated ordering the Easy Peasy Floral cardigan from Conversation Pieces and I am so glad I decided to order it. I am trying to branch out my style a bit and I tried out 2 new items that have never before been in my wardrobe a floral cardigan and oxford shoes. I must say I am pretty happy with the way I pulled them together and it is not something a grandma would wear.

I love finding unique pieces to add to my wardrobe and my home, but handmade and independent designers can be very expensive. 9thelm.com is a flash sale site that exclusively features handmade and independent designer products. You can find jewelry, shoes, clothing and even home decor all at reduced prices! The sales last about a week and product is limited so it moves pretty fast. One time they had monogrammed Converse Chuck Taylors and I hesitated and missed my chance! The dress that I wish I had, seriously if only it came in my size, is the Ikat Outfit. I love the black and white print dress with the pop of yellow in the leggings, so classic and fun! The other outfit I picked was the Shining Star outfit. The Shining Star outfit adds the perfect amount of sparkle and bling to please any little girl yet it’s a knit that is perfect for playing and having fun.

As you know I am a fan of Fabkids, they offer stylish children’s apparel each month for the low price of $29.95. What I Wore Real Mom Style: Neon Pants #RealMomStyle

neon pink pants

That’s right neon pants, hot pink to be precise! I bought these neon pink pants from Old Navy last year on a whim and am so glad that I did because I love them. Not only are these pants super comfortable but they are fun and stylish and they look good. Neon can be scary for women as it tends to be thought of as young, but don’t be afraid of neon, or color for that matter. You can easily incorporate neon in classic silhouettes like these pants and keep it toned down by adding  a dark or neutral shirt. I paired my neon pants with a semi-sheer tribal print burnout top from Kohl’s and I am really happy with the final outfit.

Introducing New Lee Modern Series Curvy Fit jeans

product was provided for feature, all opinions are my own.
lee modern fit curvy jeans

I am sure some of you are thinking what do you know about curvy? And yes I see your point I am not overly curvy but after 5 kids my body has curves it never had before and that leads to the awful back gap. You know the loose space at the back of your jeans because the jean doesn’t quite fit your body the way it should? Lee has heard the cries of women everywhere and come out with the Lee Modern Series Curvy Fit jeans and they are pretty spectacular. Lee jeans sent me a pair of bootcut curvy fit jeans to try out and I can not say enough about these jeans. I often share what I am wearing on Instagram and the day I first tried out these jeans I shared the above collage and as you can see no back gap, those jeans nicely hug my middle!

lee curvy fit jeans

I am still at that awkward stage post baby where I am loosing weight but everything is still saggy and flabby and muffin top is a real problem. Not only was there no muffin top with these jeans but GASP I went down a size from my other Lee jeans and they fit perfect. These jeans were so fantastic they warranted red lips and an animal print top because I felt amazing in them.

Whether you have big curves or have earned smaller curves from kid’s I highly recommend checking out the Lee Jeans Curvy Fit jeans. These jeans offer a tilted rise no gap waistband with shape memory fabric to highlight those womanly curves and make you look your best!

What I Wore Real Mom Style: Sheer Vest, White Jeans #RealMomStyle

blakc and white print top with sheer vest

Over the weekend I hit up one of my favorite places to shop, Kohl’s. You knew that was coming right? Well I came across two really fun pieces that I added to my collection and I just happen to be wearing them together in this outfit. First I saw the Apt9 1/2 zip blouse and I fell for the zipper detail, I have always loved extra zippers as a design element and this black and white print was fun and classic at the same time. After that I stumbled across this Simply Vera Vera Wang Mixed Media Vest and knew I had to have that too. I initially did not plan on wearing them together but it worked and I love it. Sadly I first wore this 1/2 zip blouse to a funeral over the weekend with black capris and a black long cardigan over top but after the funeral I changed into this great outfit for the day. I swapped my black pants for white jeans to brighten it up and swapped the vest for the cardigan giving it a fun and flowy vibe. I think every piece you own should be able to be worn at least 3 ways and I know the 1/2 zip will also look great with my distressed skinny jeans so voila 3 ways to wear!

Mialiasia Jewelry Giveaway

The following is a sponsored campaign through MomDot and Mialisia, all opinions are my own.
mialisia jewelry august

Last month I introduced you to Mialisia jewelry, it was my first experience with the brand and to be honest I am quite smitten. I have been layering and experimenting and thoroughly enjoying the collection especially the pieces from the VersaStyle line. Just this past weekend I wore some new pieces to a friend’s house for a BBQ, the look was a hit not only in real life but everyone loved it online too when I shared it during my weekly Real Mom Style link up!

One of the really innovative things about this brand of jewelry is the VersaStyle hook system. This system makes it really easy to layer without creating a bulk  of chains around your neck, you simply unhook from the chain extender and hook the new necklace onto the old necklace. Confused? Well don’t worry I made a video to show you it a little better.

So as you saw in the video it really is a great system and before you ask, NO I have never had a necklace come unhooked. This month I am wearing the Isis necklace, the Sephira necklace, the Lush necklace and the capri earrings. All of the necklaces come with the VersaStyle hook system so the sky is the limit when it comes to layering options!

Umi Children’s Shoes for Growing Feet #giveaway

growing up too fast

When did her feet get so big? Maybe it was the same day she turned from my sweet baby girl to a stunning little girl who will all too soon be a young lady. It just goes way too fast!

umi shoes for girls

My sweet Abbey is very tall, at just 6 years old she is almost as tall as her 8 year old sister, who is not short by any means. She also has very big feet. I worry about my Abbey since she often has growing pains in her legs and I had those as a young girl, I still remember crying for my mom to rub my calves in the middle of the night. When I was in high school I had knee surgery, the doctors blamed my rapid growth as a young girl combined with lots of sports, it was just too much for my young muscles to handle and I worry Abbey is headed down the same road.  One of the things I learned was that the right shoes made a huge difference.

umi elaina II

Umi Elaina II available in 6 color combinations RV $60

Umi children’s shoes is a brand that I trust to take care of my daughters growing body. They offer comfortable footwear that supports her arch and her knees with comfort and care. Umi offers UmiCloud Tech a memory foam footbed that offers superior comfort plus they are ready for play straight from the box, no breaking in needed. My girls wear uniforms and I often find that the uniform approved shoes are junk, but not Umi. Umi children’s shoes last, I have NEVER had to replace a pair of Umi shoes in the past 3 years, they are still going strong at the end of the year and every pair has been happily donated still in good condition after they have outgrown them!

What I Wore Real Mom Style: Perfectly Imperfect ShabbyTee #RealMomStyle

perfectly imperfect tee

Everyone needs a fabulous tee that they can throw on and feel good while looking good. It’s the tee that you can wear dressed up or dressed down and it never fails to look good. For me that tee in the Perfectly Imperfect one-pocket shabby tee from Conversation Pieces. I just got this tee in mint and love it, thank goodness they have more colors because I need more in my wardrobe! I wore this outfit to a cookout with friends and it was perfect, just the right touch of style and casual. I of course paired it with distressed jeans because I am obsessed with distressed and I layered on some Mialisia necklaces. To me this outfit embodies summer vacation and casual style, I could wear it every day!

Girl’s Summer Fashion from FabKids

Samples provided.
fabkids july rocker

Ok time for your monthly FabKids fashion and of course it’s adorable! When we went on vacation last week my daughter packed almost all FabKids outfits and everyone kept commenting on her cute wardrobe! One of my favorite things about  all the FabKids items we own is the amount of tulle. Little girls love tulle and so often it is reserved for more formal dresses not everyday dresses. FabKids has embraced the everyday tulle skirt and my daughter loves it, as do I!

fabkids july

The first outfit she is modeling is the Rocker Girl outfit and of course it has TULLE! This outfit is so fun I kind of wish they made it in my size! I love the mix of rocker and girly making it perfect for my girl! You’ve got tulle, burnout tee, leopard, ombre I mean really what is not to love about this outfit!

The next outfit is fun and quirky and cute for summer I mean it has toucans on it! This adorable silhouette means you can dress it up or down and the fun cross back is perfect for these warm July days. This outfit is Summer Sweetie and while the capris come with this dress as you can see they do with Rocker Girl as well, I always try to coordinate like that and FabKids makes it so easy!

As you know I am a fan of Fabkids, they offer stylish children’s apparel each month for the low price of $29.95. Travel In Style: Create 3 Outfits With 1 pair of Shoes

call it spring shoes

The way airlines are hitting you with expensive luggage fees it pays to pack light, literally. So the next time you need to head out of town for a weekend trip you can simply wear a pair of shoes on your feet and pack 3 distinct outfits, add some jewelry and you will be great. I took one pair of Call it Spring shoes ( the College Giglioni in peach) a stack of bracelets ( Larirasen) and I added them to 3 different looks that would get you through any trip in style.

1 pair of shoes 3 outfits

call it spring flat sandal

The first outfit is of course the LBD or little black dress. Adding these peach sandals and the peach and turquoise bracelets give it a pop of fun summer color and make for a stunning combination. The second outfit consists of distressed denim shorts and the linen tee. This super casual outfit has an element of fun when you add the ankle tie sandals to the shorts and the beach scene on the linen tee ties in the colors of the bracelets nicely. The final outfit uses distressed cropped boyfriend jeans paired with a blue print shirt. I actually wore a similar outfit the other day and I really loved how the shoes softened up the edgy distresses pants. This outfit is a great outfit for most day to day activities on a trip and you can even swap the shirts in the last two outfits to create 2 more looks for your trip! So there you hae it minimal items needed with maximum fashion and style!
