I love the name Muk Luk it just fits the product so well. It makes you think of comfy, yet functional. Not some wimpy girly feminine shoe but a big all over wrapping warm slipper or boot and that is exactly what they are. Have you noticed the trend of sweater boots? Muk Luk makes some fabulous sweater boots that are super trendy. I received a pair in black and I am really loving them. They feel just like a cozy, comfy slipper yet look very stylish! Now Muk Luk has come out with sandals! Be sure to check out the latest selection of Muk Luk shoes at Target, Kohls or other retailers.

Online Shopping For Your Valentine

As Valentine’s Day quickly approaches it is often much easier to shop online than to go out in person. In you are buried in snow like I am then it really is much easier to shop online. In my opinion the actual gift itself is not what matters, but the thought, although a nice gift is always a welcome treat. Men are especially hard to buy for, this Valentine’s Day if you are looking for something extra special how about a watch? And if it’s in your budget two fantastic brands that will keep there value a lifetime are Invicta and Movado. Invicta starts as low as $77 while Movado is at the higher end. Both are fabulous pieces of jewelry to consider for your Valentine.

Belle Baby Carriers

I am a babywearing addict, you can never find me without a baby carrier close by. If baby isn’t in it I have it close by for use. I have tried all kinds of carriers and recently I got to try out the Belle Baby Carrier. The Belle is a soft shell carrier that can hold a child either facing in or facing out. I like that the Belle is made of very soft fabric. As I wore Little C at a very young age I really appreciated the extra softness of the carrier. The Belle also now has a removable head rest, this headrest was very helpful in stabilizing my daughters wobbly head and made me feel much more secure wearing her upright at a young age. Little C did not like to be worn in a sling like the Ballerina but she has really loved the Belle. I did not like the ring closure for the waist it was time consuming and a bit annoying to take the carrier on and off. The Belle Baby Carriers start at $99 and can be purchased at Belle Baby Carriers.

I recieved product free of charge in order to obtain my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.

How to Bring Fun Back to Family Vacations

February 9, 2010 by Ellen

Family vacations look a lot different these days, while the whole family is in the same room they are all doing there own thing. Modern technology has brought us fabulous advances but it has also made it harder to truly unplug and connect. When work can follow you anywhere, literally, it is often hard to just unplug and relax. Last year we took a very relaxing family vacation with my parents to visit extended family and here are some of the things we did to ensure great family time, unplugged.

  1. Just say NO. If you are willing to tell the office and other commitments that vacation means No then you are less likely to bothered.
  2. Turn your cell phones off. If you are all together as a family there is only need for one emergency cell phone. This provides less distractions and opportunities for disruptions.
  3. Keep busy. Plan lots of fun activities that require interaction with the family. Check out local attractions where you are vacationing and make plans to visit them.
  4. Don’t bring the electronics. If you can leave them at home great. If you need them for the car or plane ride lock them in the hotel room safe until it’s time to go. If your kids can’t see there DSI they are less likely to ask for it.
  5. Do something physical. Enjoy the scenery wherever you are, get outside and explore as a family.
  6. Bring evening activities such as puzzles and family games. This is a great way to spend the evenings as a family.
  7. Let the kids do some planning. If the kids are involved in the planning they will be more likely to be excited about activities.
  8. Try to walk to everything. If you stay in a central location walking provides more opportunities to interact and is less likely to bring out the “are we there yet chorus”
  9. Vacation with extended family, this adds an extra dimension to vacation, fun and more family.
  10. Be flexible if you are willing to try new things to keep the family happy it makes for more fun memories!

Simplify My Life!!!

January 21, 2010 by Ellen

I wasn’t going to write this post, but today as I drove home with sleeping kids in the car I thought hey maybe I do have a creative angle and I just might be able to win. What am I talking about? Well The Mom Bloggers Club and Dara Torres are giving away an HP mini and Windows 7 to someone who can put it to the most creative use to help simplify their crazy life. Well here is how I would use an HP mini to simplify my life hectic life.

Example number one: I am the mom of 3 girls under 4 and that makes life pretty crazy sometimes. On desperate days I drive my kids to sleep, I know, I know but it works and gives me some peace. The problem? They don’t all transfer well from the car to bed so there are days I sit in the car in my driveway while they sleep and read a book or I just keep driving to keep them sleeping longer. So how would an HP mini help? I would sit in my driveway and use the wifi from my house to blog. That’s right the HP mini would simplify my life by allowing me to use every minute to it’s full potential. If I can blog while they sleep then I have more time for other things like playing with my kids! Speaking of sleeping kids that brings me to example number two. Another way I would simplify my life with an HP mini is by blogging and Twittering while my kids go to sleep. Yes I am that mom that sits in the room until my girls are asleep and while I am happy to be there for my kids sometimes it kills me to sit in their room when I have a million things to do. So if I had an HP mini I would be bale to blog and deal search while my kids drift off to sleep and of course I would be able to participate in all those fabulous Twitter parties. I love a good Twitter party and hate missing them so with an HP mini I wouldn’ t have to.

Last of all I have example number three as to how an HP mini would help simplify my life. My husband has his own business ( he builds custom guitar pedals) and he and I share our laptop. There are times we both need the computer and it can be hard to share. With Windows 7 you can build a fabulous sharing network and I could happily use the mini while he used our laptop.

Oh wait one more benefit of the HP mini would be for when we watch tv on Hulu.com. Being thrifty as we are we don’t have cable and instead hook our laptop up to the tv and watch shows on Hulu.com. If I had a mini I could blog and watch my favorite shows all at once, how great would that be!  So this is my attempt at winning an HP mini with Windows 7 and guess what? You can too. Simply leave a comment on this post for your chance, you must be a member of Mom Bloggers to be eligible, go HERE for all the details good luck! Be sure and check out how Dara Torres uses her HP mini.

Helping Haiti: Soles4Souls

The devastation in Haiti has touched us all. I spent 2 months in Kingston, Jamaica working with an organization called Mustard Seed Communities that cares for abandoned and disabled children. They also have homes in Haiti and I plan on helping them, but if you do not have a connection to Haiti you may feel overwhelmed by how to help. See Kai Run a fabulous shoe company is donating 3000 pairs of shoes to Soles4Souls. This great project is collecting gently used shoes from you and me at convenient locations in your area. Go HERE to find a location near you and if there isn’t one you can mail your shoes to the address provided. This is a fabulous way to help because there is a real need for shoes to protect people of all ages from the debris that is everywhere. Plus you know your donation is going directly to those in need, there is no wondering what percentage of your donation is actually going to relief efforts, you know it is 100%.

How ever you choose to help make sure you do your research and donate through a reputable organization and be sure to find out what percentage of your money is going to help.

Due to the heavy corruption in Haiti I strongly urge you to send used shoes instead of new. In my experience with poverty stricken countries who have corrupt governments your items are much more likely to make it to the intended party when they do not have as much street value.
